Wood Buffalo
Social Prosperity Wood Buffalo: over the past few years, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has developed an exciting vision for its community. Envision Wood Buffalo defined a widely shared plan for community development. At the same time, the Suncor Energy Foundation was working with community leaders to build capacity in the non-profit sector. Their early success led them to enlist the help of the University of Waterloo, an internationally renowned institution with expertise in social innovation. Building on the work that’s already been done by the community, the Wood Buffalo Community Building project includes a unique partnership with Waterloo Region that will stimulate innovation and generate many positive outcomes for Wood Buffalo.
The goal of the project and activity moving forward is to implement a change agenda that will build non-profit and social capacity for the long term, and to link the great doers and thinkers of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the Region of Waterloo toward creating exceptional solutions.
