Collaboration
Supporters & Funders
If a community wants to solve complex social, environmental and economic issues, then it can only do it together.
It is no longer acceptable for funders to individually ask non profit organizations to 'solve' social challenges. Cash-flush funders must work together to show how resources can be better allocated. Only then will cash-strapped non profit organizations realize that funders are serious about social innovation and the collaboration that is required.
To better understand the magnitude and complexity of these challenges, review the Philanthropist article titled, "Reflections on Social Innovation" by Mark Goldenberg.

Funders Forum
Inspired by GDCF’s Chair, Glen Ewan, this event was designed to address the dependency of many groups on just a few local funders like the Town of Golden, CSRD, GDCF, Golden Rotary, Golden Lions and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #122. Funders Forum launched in 2010 with 16 funding organizations from Alberta and BC and 50 attendees. In 3 minute PowerPoint presentations, Funders were encouraged to explain 1) who they are, 2) what funding they had available, to who, and 3) how to be successful in your request for it. The event immediately preceded the Not For Profit Connection, allowing funders and non profits applicants to touch base throughout the evening.
